For the people

When we say we were created to give people a home team, that means:

  • No elitist attitudes.

  • No time standards for entry.

  • Low cost & membership scholarships available (number available per year may vary).

  • Team kit options that cater to a variety of bodies.

And more.

Herd Morals

  • One herd, one heart.

We strive to make team support accessible for members, which is why we don’t hold try-outs or list time standards for entry.

Whether an Olympic Qualifier or a passionate hobbyist seeking a PR, Elefantes embraces runners as individual athletes and team members. Their importance does not hinge on pace or performance.

  • Be a perpetual student.

The paths of sport and society collide frequently. We believe in constant growth and learning in all facets of life, aiming to foster and support constructive discussion accordingly.

Members of the Herd are encouraged to stand up and be vocal and active proponents of growth and change.

  • Education & equity over intolerence.

We will not stand for racist, xenophobic, homophobic, sexual orientation discriminatory, transphobic, or any other behavior we see as bullsh*t. Instead, we acknowledge the ongoing work we must actively engage in to dismantle detrimental and damaging social constructs.

We are developing a team racing rider to enforce this, one small step towards larger, long-term change.

  • Push progress, not just pace.

Good sportsmanship is our baseline. Push yourself on the racecourse, and off the course, too. We encourage team members to “step it up” via maintenance of clean sport, running with integrity, quarterly service as a team, and more.

Please reach out to us if our team could be a constructive fit for your team, club, or organization.

Born in the Bay Area

Our breed of elephants is largely native to the East Bay Area, California. While in-person events are mostly in the surrounding area, we have remote teammates both in and out of state.

Home is where the herd is.
